The Akron Area Aquatics Association was created to promote aquatic sports in the Akron Area, including all of Summit County in northeast Ohio, and to recognize individuals that have made significant contributions to those sports in that area. The Organization is modeled after a similar organization in Stark County, the Greater Canton Aquatics Association. We intend to compile top times lists for high school and age group teams, award all-star team certificates, and recognize officials, coaches and other volunteers that have contributed to swimming, diving, synchronized swimming, water polo and swim lessons in the area.

Established in 2014, the organization was formed for the purpose of recognizing and acknowledging former and current swimmers and divers from Summit County as well as coaches and officials who have contributed to the field of aquatics. The organization intends to recognize  and honor these athletes and contributors during an enshrinement ceremony that will eventually take  place annually in the Spring. The AAAA will also provide information about local   swimmers and divers by:

 

      -Releasing Top Ten Times to the media on a weekly basis

      -Selecting High School Swimmers and Divers of the week

      -Selecting All-Akron Area Teams including local age-group swimmers                           (YMCA, USA-S, Summer League, High School, College, Masters, Special                       Olympics, Water Polo, Synchronized Swimming, and Diving)

      -Establishing and maintaining Akron Area Swimming and Diving records.

    -Establishing and maintaining an Aquatics Hall of Fame for Aquatics                               Sports in the area.

    -Recognizing significant contributions to Akron Area Aquatics by coaches,                 officials and other aquatics professionals.

 

The AAAA is in the early stages of its deveopment. We are in need of people interested in Aquatics to help complete its organization, including ways and means of funding the various programs that we intend to conduct.
